I came to Glen Innes Grey St and noticed the Footpath is being upgraded.
The
rest of the Glen Innes Pavement upgrade looks terrific and has made the Glen
Innes
Business footpath better to used by Customers.
But read my Blog because each time the Footpath is done it destroys
Businesses sales.
I have always said there is a better way to do it.

I was shopping at Glen Innes Grey Street, Woolworths next to the Reserves
for Accessible Parking. I
wonder if the parking is being used correctly to help those who have invalid
problems. Places for those classed as Invalid Pensioners, close to the
stores such as Woolworths.. While I sat there beside Reserves for
Accessible Parking.
First car pulled up with the Invalid Pension tag on the window, One person
sat in the passenger side and the driver hopped out as fit as anything
walked quickly into the Woolworths.
I thought the Invalid Pension parking was to be used by a person who needed
close to the store, so the Invalid person could walk less to go into the
store. I was disappointed,
A second car pulled up and exactly the same as the first the passenger and
the driver hopped out and quickly went into Woolworths.
Heaps of times I notice it happens time and time again.
Invalid Pensions who are genuinely driving and need to be close to a store
that is fair enough.

Friday I travelled to Glen Innes to buy items and I thought I would buy them
at places who were part of the Glen Innes Shopping Competition $10,000.00
Ten thousand Dollars.
I saw no signs anywhere and then found that the $10,000.00 Competition had
finished, to be drawn on the Friday Night. It is a pity the competition did
not finish closer the Christmas, at least till the Friday . I suppose those
organised the $10,000.00 Competition wanted the $10,000.00 spent in the next
week up the the last day of Xmas.
Fires
around Deepwater, Torrington about 40 kilometres North of Glen Innes
The Deepwater Oval was the spot where two Helicopters landed, refuelled
and water used for fire fighting.
Advertising
has certainly changed with these type of problems would ever be allowed to
Advertise on the New England Highway in Deepwater and other places
The beautifying the Deepwater Highway has been a disaster, as you can see by
the photos trees have died again and again, even now trees have died.
There was also an attempt to direct traffic into the middle of the New
England Highway. As you can see by the guides on the side of the they are
doing their job, but it has made the Deepwater Street unsafe for
citizens particularly for the older drivers. Before they could simply turn
left and not have to go into the middle of the Highway.
That was an unfortunate decision for the Severn Council, I sat in a meeting
when the decisions were made and a person from Main Roads said "If people
feel uncomfortable about going on the New England Highway they should not be
on it"
That is life. There pluses of course. Work for the Council
worker. Material used and of course replacing the trees who die. What a
hoot.
Deepwater water supply or should I say water tower had a roof put on. A plus
for Deepwater village I
assume that was critical to happen to stop birds flying over to pup in the
water, maybe they fall in and drown while drinking, or maybe the birds die
and fall in.
The other problem could be that children may have gone for a swim and drown
or could Deepwater citizens have climbed up and polluted the water.
I roof is better then none.
You can have a look at
www.deepwaterrailway.com to
see more about the Deepwater Railway Station and there is also a History of the
Deepwater Railway. About 1910 Deepwater Railway was a major railway station
moving freight around the state.
There is also a History of the beginning of the Deepwater FM 2cbd, 91.1 and

8-8-009. There I was minding my own business when a friend told me that
two workers at the Deepwater Industrial Estate failed their drug test
when the Australian Wide Industrial drug testing was done
recently. It is unfortunate for the workers, they were fired, they put
themselves out of work. They would have been a cost not an asset because
if a product is proved to be made defective, made by a drug filled
worker, if proven it would be a costly affair for the manufacturer. but
they were warned. I wonder how many workers in Glen Innes Industry and
Business have the same problem. I notice those workers on drugs keep
taking drugs, the game is about how to avoid the tests. Glen Innes,
Deepwater, Emmaville, Inverell, Armidale Tenterfield must have a lot of
workers who are busy playing the anti support drug testing regime and
all they will to try avoidance to miss the test. But eventually they
will be caught and removed. A worker loaded with drugs is guaranteed to
do sloppy work and produce inferior products which will fall apart.
Imagine a worker welding on drugs, he or she will see the flash of the
welder and suddenly imagine they are fighting a fire or visiting hell,
there product goes to the buyer and suddenly as it is used it falls
apart because the welding was poor or not applied correctly. No doubt
the Glen Innes and Deepwater testing of drugs will increase as they find
more workers are on drugs then they thought.
6-8-009. I was extremely interested in the articles in Glen Innes
Examiner, no doubt we all like to have a positive outlook in life. We
recommend people to stay positive no matter what circumstances are and I
would say the same about Businesses. You can be having a difficult time
with less traffic in your stores, your sales may be down, all these
things can happen, but you can still be positive and maximise to get as
many people as possible through your door to lift you sales to as much
as you can. You are then maximising all areas in your Business,
Industry, Business, Shop, Services. That is all you need to do.
Bullshit is not needed. That is you are not telling the truth.
There is nothing wrong in saying sales are down, things are difficult,
and saying my business has downsized my staff requirements. I know all
businesses in Deepwater and the owners, I know a lot of the businesses
in Glen Innes.
Let me just make an observation as to what has happened in Deepwater.
There is not a single business that is not doing less business so far
with 2009 year being half over. (If I am wrong let me know) I notice at
the Deepwater Industrial estate, Carl Baer Circuit there are less
cars and the people in the town have said a number of people have become
redundant, sales are difficult. If that is the case, so what. I notice
the Hotels sales are town, and even a previous owner did say " I hope
things get better" Petrol sales, food sales, grocery sales, Tourist
traffic is down, so generally sales are down. A fact of life and that
does not mean there is a recession. All the owners of Businesses in
Deepwater have a positive outlook for the town (many people are
relocating to Deepwater, which is great). I am sure there will be an
uplift of sales for all businesses in Deepwater, they surely deserve it
Hendrik is a friend.
Glen Innes Businesses has given Deepwater serious
competition in all areas, whether it be food, fuel, petrol, hotels,
accommodation, coffee shops, tourist dollars.
18-7-009 I was in Glen Innes I took this photo about a couple of
weeks ago and these barriers were in place. Where you can see the lady
on the right customers had to travel away from the shops and go on ramps
to go to the shops.
Sources tell me that they were told 3 weeks and the job would be done
their footpath would be good. The pavement was done in about 2 months,
not 3 weeks. As I said in my comment I believe the way the pavement was
redeveloped was unfortunate with no consideration to the shop
owners who were going through tough time. The footpath, Pavement when it
is done looks great.
17-6-009 Glen Innes pavement, footpath development
instigated by the Glen Innes Severn Council. I notice in front of Ambis
Treasures and other shops the gangplanks and obstructions that make it
almost impossible for people to go into the shops.
Some people say the shops will benefit after the pavements footpath are
developed. I agree with that because East side done looks great and
citizens and tourists will notice how good the street looks because of
good looking pavement.
footpath. The trouble I see is that while the Glen Innes Severn Council
organised the project I am sure it would have been possible for the
project to be completed during off peak periods for businesses, such as
work done after 4pm or on the weekends. That means the shops need not
suffer with sales loses of 30% and more. Seeing businesses tender for
the work it would have been possible for the Glen Innes pavement
footpath development done with small amount of interference with shop
sales.
Glen Innes news is there all the time, think about McDonalds opening
recently. How do the Coffee Shop people cope with this increased
competition? It is clear many travellers will not stop in the normal
coffee shops in towns, such as Glen Innes, so in a sense those who
normally do not stop are not competitors . If anything, McDonalds
customers go to McDonalds, but because Glen Innes has Woolworth Caltex
fuel, New Woolworth Supermarket, United Fuel a large development for
cars and trucks there is a possibility that more people stop in the town
so that we all benefit, shops, eating places, accommodation, sightseeing
and more.
Let's see what happens. HomeHome
